New Moon in Cancer July 2026: Meaning, Crystals & Guidance
The Doors Closing Are Creating Your New Foundation
Dear Beautiful Soul,
This Cancer New Moon on July 14 2026 is truly a turning point. It's asking you to release a life that looks impressive and start building a life that feels aligned. I’m sharing this guidance early because the days leading up to it may reveal what is ready to shift.
In the past weeks, you may have noticed some doors in your life quietly - or not so quietly closing - relationships, identities, and situations you've simply outgrown, closing out on their own. Most of the time this is coming without something new actually happening.
If you've felt heavier than usual, more emotional than you can explain, that's not you falling apart. That's grief, even when what's ending is something you're relieved to see go - or even when a part of you knows it’s for your highest and best good. You're allowed to feel both at once.
You may have found yourself asking:
Why does this feel so heavy if I know it's the right thing?
Am I imagining this, or is everything actually shifting?
Why can't I go back to how things used to feel, even in the good moments?
Is something wrong with me for grieving something I wanted to leave?
If you've been reading my emails or following me on social media, you know Mercury is in retrograde, and you've heard all the Mercury retrograde talk: how it tends to bring up the issues you've been burying and slap you in the face with them until you pay attention. Root it out. Transmute it. Release it.
Well, here's the good news. The Mercury cazimi occurs this Sunday and Monday, July 12 and 13, just before the New Moon on the 14th - astrologically, this is considered a point of greater clarity within Mercury retrograde, the time in which you can more easily realize exactly what it is you're supposed to be learning this time around. And that makes it so much easier to get clear on your intentions for the New Moon.
Cancer doesn't care about your five year plan. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and the Moon doesn't think its way through anything, it feels its way. So forget “does this make sense.” The real question is does this actually feel good? Not the version of “good” that looks impressive to everyone else. Not the version that only makes sense on paper. Good in your body, honest enough to admit that growth can feel like a risk before it feels like relief.
So sit with these for a moment:
✨ What door has been quietly closing that I haven't let myself grieve?
✨ What have I been performing, explaining away, or managing so nobody asks how I really am?
✨ If I stopped chasing the next goal long enough to feel what's underneath it, what would I find?
✨What is actually true about me right now, beneath the stories I’ve carried?
✨ What one honest brick could I lay today, instead of waiting for the whole foundation to appear at once?
This lines up with the deeper work Neptune retrograde is doing right now: dissolving illusions and helping us recognize what was never truly aligned with us.
This isn't a New Moon handing you a finished plan. It's handing you materials. What you build with them is up to you, one true, unglamorous brick at a time.

This one works like a mirror, showing you exactly what you've been avoiding, while also handing you the strength and personal power to actually walk through the door that's closing instead of standing in it, stuck. Obsidian has always been one of my favourite protection stones, and Golden Sheen Obsidian brings that protective energy together with deep self-reflection.

I invite you to sit for a few moments, maybe light a candle, and simply name the door that's closing out loud. Not to fix it. Just to acknowledge it. Then ask yourself: what is the first honest brick I could lay for what comes next? Make sure you can feel that it resonates, on the soul level.
You don't need the whole foundation built today. You need one true thing to surface and set your intention on that one thing for now!
